What is a Triaxial TRB Type RF Connector
Summary
TRB connectors are connectors for triaxial cables, also called triple coaxial cables. It is used as a noise suppressor for micro current measurement equipment and precision measurement equipment. It can be used for low-level signal connection and balanced line applications. Bionet-lock type for easy coupling, but cannot be coupled with BNC connectors. Impedance is mismatched.

What is a Triaxial Cable?
Triaxial cables, also called triple coaxial cables, have one more layer than normal coaxial cables.
In ordinary coaxial cables, an insulator between the inner and outer conductors prevents electromagnetic noise from leaking out.
However, when measuring minute currents, the small amount of current that leaks even with insulators separating the conductors can cause large errors in the measured values.
This is where triaxial cables come in. Triaxial cables have an additional layer of intermediate conductor and inner coating between the insulation and outer conductor.
This avoids measurement errors when measuring minute currents.
Difference from BNC Connectors
Triaxial TRB connectors use a bionet locking method (also called bayonet, bayonet, etc.) for easy coupling, and the mating part is similar to that of BNC.
However, they cannot be mated with BNC connectors.
Not only is the internal construction different for triaxial cables, but the number of studs (protrusions) for coupling is also different.
BNC connectors mate with two studs, whereas triaxial TRB connectors mate with three studs in a bionet-locked manner.
Triaxial TRB Type RF Connector Features
Noise suppression
Triaxial cables, also known as triple coaxial cables, are supported, making them suitable for noise suppression in microcurrent measurements.
Impedance mismatch
BNC connectors are available in two types of impedance 50Ω75Ω. Triaxial TRB connectors are impedance-mismatched products.
Therefore, they cannot be used in higher frequency bands.
Studs (protrusions) joined at 3 points
The same as BNC, it is a bionet locking system. Three studs (protrusions) provide more secure coupling.

Triaxial TRB Type RF Connector FAQ
QCan it be mated with TXA connector?
QCan it be mated with TXA connector?
TXA connector is a series name used in triaxial connectors from other manufacturers.
TYCLON triaxial TRB connectors are designed in accordance with MIL-PRF-49142.
Therefore, other manufacturers' connectors can be mated if they are designed according to the same standard.
However, it is safer to use TYCLON connectors for both plugs (male) and jacks (female). We can also provide the plug side if it is a cable processed product.
QWhat is a triaxial 3-lug? Can it be mated?
QWhat is a triaxial 3-lug? Can it be mated?
3-lug is a series name used in triaxial connectors of other manufacturers.
It is thought to be derived from the number of stag points (protrusions).
Like TXA connectors, they can be mated if they are designed according to the same standard.
