What is a 3.5mm Type RF Connector

Summary

The 3.5mm type rf connector is one of the high-performance miniature connectors for high frequency up to 26.5 GHz, compatible with SMA type and 2.92 mm K type rf connectors, with an impedance of 50 Ω and a threaded coupling method for secure coupling.

Product List

High Frequency Test Cables

We have a lineup of high frequency test cables with 3.5 mm connectors, which can be combined with others, including SMA connectors. Please contact us for specifications.

TC-055 Ultra low loss, Heat resistant

Features low loss with the highest level of dielectric loss. Ensures stable transmission under severe conditions such as temperature environment. Loss/reflection/phase is stable even when the cable is bent, the phase change is small versus temperature, and triple shielding provides high shielding.
Connectors can be selected from SMA (plug, L-plug, jack), N (plug), and 3.5 mm (plug, jack).
In addition to the standard type, an armored type with stainless steel tubing reinforcement and a heat-resistant 200°C type are also available.

3.5mm Type RF Connector Features

High frequency

We have a lineup of products that can be used from DC to 26.5 GHz high-frequency bandwidth. The insulation material has been changed from Teflon to air, and the 3.5mm outer shape allows for even higher frequencies than SMA connectors.

Compatibility

The 3.5mm connector is interchangeable with SMA and 2.92mm connectors in inner conductor diameter and can be mated.

Compact Size

The small size of the connectors enables high-density mounting in a small space, not only for wiring in equipment but also for connection between subassemblies of equipment and between equipment.

3.5mm Type RF Connector Applications

Satellite mount, military equipment, aircraft equipment, network analyzers, etc.

3.5mm Type RF Connector FAQ

QWhat is the difference between SMA connectors and 3.5mm connectors?

A

3.5mm connector has a 3.5mm outer diameter and an air dielectric. This allows for an even higher waveguide mode cutoff frequency, achieving an operating frequency of DC to 26.5GHz.

> SMA
> 2.92mm K

QWhy is there a conversion connector for SMA connectors when it is compatible with SMA connectors?

A

SMA, 3.5mm, and 2.92mm are compatible and can be mated. Therefore between series adapters are useful at research facilities, universities, and other sites where severe measurements are required.

> 3.5mm - SMA

QAre there connectors with higher frequency and smaller sizes?

A

SMA connectors are designed for 18 GHz, 3.5mm connectors for 26.5GHz, and 2.92mm K connectors for 40GHz, respectively. We are developing SMP connectors that support up to 40GHz and are smaller in size. Please contact us if you have any questions about the development status or the shape you require.
